Jon Farmer hails from C-Space, a transdimensional reality where he was the youngest member of the Throne, a team of 10,000 superheroes. He had a favoured position as the heir to King One, the hereditary leader of the Throne. The Throne was wiped out by abraham Dusk, a quantum virus that walked as a man. Realising that they were doomed, King One sent Morningstar through the transdimensional prism that powered the Throne into the Bleed, a "Backwater" reality stream. King One then detonated the Prism, supposedly destroying C-Space.
Farmer arrived on Earth in 1967, and this period of his life is quite fuzzy. It was believed that he was involved in a multinational task force led by Jenny Sparks, that fought a time-travelling flying city in 1976. In 1981 he realised that the world was ill, and he decided to become a priest to try and help. Again his history becomes fuzzy at this point.
Farmer went to the Party on the carrier in early 2000 looking to recruit heroes to help save the world from its illness. He disguised himself as a barman, and encountered Apollo among others. The only prospect he found was King, as his and Christine Trelane's epiphanies caused his powers to react. Disparaged, he returned to his parish, only to have King and Trelane search him out, months later. He was drawn out of hiding, and became a member of the Monarchy.
Since then, Farmer has been tasked with saving Union's soul. He has taken the task seriously, and seems to be the only member of the Monarchy who actually interacts with Union.
