In New York, King goes to the hospital Director Hoshino was brought to in issue 2, puts the guard to sleep, and decides to have a telepathic chat with Hoshino, to explain why he left the UN. However, in Texas Christine and Professor Q are face to face with Corrinda and the Fevermen. Professor Q demonstartes her powers by inventing and builing a gravity weapon in a matter of picoseconds and uses it to blow the fevermen away. Knowing they're not dead, the Professor goes after them, leaving Christine and Addie behind.
In Kansas city, Farmer and Union are walking the streets, talking. It turns out that the Crown is in Kansas, which is America's heartland literally as well as figuratively. It tends to attract superhuman arrivals such as Farmer and John Cumberland(The High from Stormwatch). The Crown is in a Reality-polder, an area of reality strengthened against sight from others. Another rality-polder in the area was Oz, but Oz no longer exists, as Farmer can attest to- he was there when the walls came tumbling down.
Back in Texas, Professor Q continues to fight the Fevermen, ultimately succumbing to their attacks, but as they turn her to stone, Christine restores Addie to power, who lets out a burst of power that destroys the Fevermen, and restores both Professor Q to life and Addie to youth.
King explains to Hoshino the concept of the bleed, and that superhumans are part of the planet's immune system against danger. However, superhumans spend so much time fighting each other, and this is down to problems in the Bleed. A quantum mathematical error has caused a problem in the bleed. If the bleed is an organism, with the myriad of different decisions that define each reality likened to cell division, then there are metatastic tumors in the Bleed, worlds turining rotten. Right now, the Monarchy are combating only the smallest symptoms, but once they tie up some loose ends, they're going to undream the world.
In Texas, Christine, Professor Q and Addie deal with the aftermath of the battle. Addie has her youth back, and a destiny to be the voice of the poeple. The Fevermen were bad thoughts made real, but Professor Q has no Idea who's thoughts they are. Back in New York, Hoshino comes out of his coma, demanding a nurse and a phone. He wants to call his wife, he has Good News.
