An Introduction to the Monarchy

the Monarchy was an ongoing comic published by Wildstorm Comics. The story centers around Jackson King, former member of Stormwatch, as he strives to improve the world by any means necessary. "The world is in need of surgery", he says, "Welcome to the first cut". King, along with his wife, Christine Trelane, extradimensional ex-priest Jon Farmer, "calculator godess" Professor Q, the resurected former hero Union, "chaos artist" Condition Red, and others who have yet to be revealed, he is willing to do what it takes to save the world from threats they don't percieve, but unlike the superstar Authority, also formed by Stormwatch veterans, the Monarchy moves through the shadows and alleys, never letting the world know they're there.

The Bleed is the space between universes, the artery walls of reality. Stormwatch first discovered it in 1998, and watched an alternate version of themselves sacrifice themselves to save their world. Later the Authority's semi-sentient base of operations, the Carrier would spend a lot of time there. However, there are tumors in the Bleed. A mathemmatical process that defines the pathways of alternate universes has gone wrong, changing from meiosis to metastatis. Superhumans, reality's defence force against such an event are helpless to fight it, as they are affected lie everything else. Only the Monarchy are in a position to save reality, and God help us if they fail.
